What forum concept/idea did you have before? Was it anything new or interesting? I have the idea in the back of my mind to do the farm sim/life sim forum idea. I just wanted to start off with a general chat forum for the time being. I also had wished to do an actual successful anime/manga forum, but never really bothered with the idea. I did gaming ones before, but success was just not on my side during those times.

I wanted to start a board where I was paid to code for people, but I never pursued the project because I don't think I know enough programming languages/frameworks/libraries that people like to use nowadays. Plus, if I started such a board on free software, I don't think many people would take it seriously and it would be harder to find clients that way.

I wouldn’t necessarily say I wish I created a certain forum, I think I would wish more that I was slightly older back in the noughties to have been more mature and open to learning skills such as coding and being able to open and run my own successful forum. Looking back at when I was moderating and being admin on forums, I was 13/14/15, like what the hell did I know about anything back then??

Yup, same. I was not really good at spelling and punctuation then either.

I used to use thesauruses to find bigger words to make me sound more adult-like. :ROFLMAO:
That used to be the trend for board names on Zetaboards. I remember having Clairvoyant Studios and not even knowing what that word meant. That's just one example, I have lots more.

I once planned an awards forum called fShowbiz or Forum Showbiz. It's something that always stuck in my head but sadly never saw daylight. The board was fully setup, ready to go but discontinued for a reason I don't remember. Always regretted that to be fair. Was a unique forum that could've worked back in 2008 or something.

I have the desire to create a paid to post forum, where I would pay people to post on the forum. However, due to the lack of funds, I have not tried this yet.

There is a huge forum right now related to showbiz. I think it could still work today.

I'd like to start a nerd forum but never have. I am working and starting up a nerd blog though.

Before Media Planet I was going to make a webmaster/administration forum but there's a few of those already.

Honestly if you want to start a board then just go out and do it. You would be better off trying and failing miserably then never trying at all. I would rather make an attempt and find out it won't work then spend my days wondering "What if....? instead. No matter what you do for a board, you are going to come across days when you don't feel like putting in the work and if you only plan on doing something for as long as you feel like it then nothing you attempt will pan out. Being successful and your feelings of wanting to run said board will inevitably part ways from time to time and it is the ones who keep on working at it even when they don't feel like it are the ones that succeed.

A mistake I seen made quite a bit is a person will start a board then look for a group of people to fill it and this never works as people want to be at a place that looks like the place to be and coming on a board with no one currently there and ten posts for the day isn't going to cut it. You need to find a sizable group of people who will be hitting the road running on day one of opening before you even make the board. It helps to have friends and have connections especially if you hold long standing staff positions or are an elite member elsewhere.

Hm, I feel it could work today still for sure.

Yep, true. That's what I am doing with mine.

Something I have an interest in but know at the moment I am not financially able to do is create a paid-to-post forum. Creating this though would be difficult without having enough to invest and be able to pay people when they ask for a withdrawal. It would be amazing to be able to help people financially with something like that but first, you would need to know you could afford it before jumping in at the deep end.

Back when I had more spare money, I wanted to set up a sex worker/red umbrella/adult industry board. Still do. Just wanting to get a regular paycheck again to basically be "stripperwebs 2.0" since stripperwebs went down in February 2023 despite being an amazing resource for all things relating to the XXX industry (sugar babies, escorting, cam girls, etc.).

I actually wanted to start a community about smartphone some years ago but for one reason or another I wasn't able to do it and right now I don't have the desire to get into it anymore. It is why I have never bothered about starting it all over again. I got in contact with iPhone community some months ago and it reminded me of my past quest to have something like that.

I fortunately pushed on with most of my ideas that I created. I've had Game specific forums, Roleplay forums, general forums. They have all made me happy and I'm glad I made them. I think people should definitely try at least, you never know what could happen!
