It's a great free script, but it still lacks compared to the paid versions. Of course it would depend on the price in the end. If they go for $100 +, there's no way I'd pay this money for it, unless the script would get an overhaul to make it comparable to IPB, VB or XF. If it soled with $30-50 for how it looks and works now, I'd pay for it.
Why don't you guys think like this: if MyBB was paid, it would definitely be much much better than what they are givin now...
If it did go paid I would expect them to lose the whole tabled design They would probably rewrite the majority of the code and release an entirely new version of the software, but I doubt that will happen any time soon.
^This. And if MyBB has as much staff "time availability" as Xenforo or other paid ones, they will finish 2.0 in less than an year.
I think they have more than enough developers at this moment... phpBB people need to increase their number
MyBB has more developers than XenForo yet 2.0 will be out in a year(so I've heard), I think they could move a little faster to be honest. Anyway, If MyBB was paid I would debate getting it if it was at a reasonable price. With what it has now, I wouldn't say that much.
If only they get paid and are full time employees like Xenforo. We should remember MyBB developers do it on their free time, whereas Xenforo developers do it as a full time job since they get paid.
I'd buy it if it was paid because that would mean it would actually be better than it currently iis(at least i'd hope so)
