Which forum software is the most secure against being hacked and which one do you think is the most vulnerable?

I think mybb is one of the most vulnerable and IPB one of the safest.

The software is as secure as the server it runs on. Not all attacks are directed on your script, some server vulnerabilities can mess everything up. I had my sites 'hacked' twice and it was a server attack. Had VB, oscommerce, wordpress sites, all down. No matter how much it costs the script or how 'secure' it is.

Just have backups, don't let too many people in your admin panel, and use some very complex passwords. And remember that, if you're having something online, it can be attacked. Not even NASA can escape these attacks :D

I don't let anybody into the admin panel :p

But those who attacked NASA were pro's and not really interested in small time forums. I was speaking on a general level about which is the safest from the script kiddies and the people who call themselves hackers, you know.. the assholes who do it for fun.

You list myBB as the least secure. Any reason? I'm a MyBB user myself and am yet to be properly hacked. The core system is extremely secure - most actual hacks occur at a server level or are caused by bad plugins. I will admit it has a problem with spam bots, but that isn't exactly a security issue.

IPB is most secure according to me!

MyBB, Xenforo, IPB. They all proved to be secure over time period.

Hmm. Can you list a few (perhaps some 10) vulnerabilities MyBB had in 1.6 and 1.4 combined, that have medium or high risk factor?
The few vulnerabilities we saw in 1.4 and 1.6 are some low risk XSS and CSRF ones, None of them are bad enough to destroy a site (except 1 as far as i know). That's common in almost all forum softwares.

most of them are good, just chose a good hosting, and do not use nulled version.
I guess mybb is a little bit better than the others, but remrmber shared hosting their is about 90 members on each server. so if anyone get hacked all the other will have a hight risk too

My BB, is the best in my opinion have been using it since it was launched, i never had insecurity issues on it. Its the best.

MyBB is very safe, but that being said it can still be vulnerable. It depends on the host, the owner etc.

I don't know which software is the finest. I use some simple stuff since I am still not so serious with forum business. :D
