What do you think of emails that you get from some forums titled "We miss you!" that are sent out when you have been inactive for so many days? I find them quite annoying.
I don't think I've ever had any, but if I did it would probably put me off going back to the site because it sounds a little bit desperate.
They are incredibly annoying. If I get any, I make a mental note of the site who sent it to me and never return. I also add their email addy into a blacklist so I no longer receive their desperate emails. It's one thing to send out a mass email every few months to tell members to return to check out new things you've done with the site and look at the new content an such, it's another to just send out "We miss you!" emails every 2 weeks to 'inactive' members.....
I find it useful if they send me after 30 or 60 days. Because it will make me to revisit them and get some knowledge by reading the topics over there.
Mine is sent out after 20 days of no activity, and then the second reminder is sent out 15 days after that.
I have never gotten one. I do get those birthday emails from forums though and I find them extremely annoying. If I go on the forum often, I will just disable all emails in my profile but if it's a forum I never go on, I will change the email to some other email.
I get them quite frequently, The most recent (and annoying) one was part of a stolen database where I had an account there. They stole the whole user part of the database and hooked it up to their forum and mass mailed everybody, now I receive a few emails a week from them I get them from a few other forums too, they are slightly annoying as if I want to return to a forum then I will return to it off my own back. I don't need an email to remind me.
This is actually quite useful to know that people generally hate this feature. I don't know, I always used this automated email system for my forums...Not going to do it anymore, lol.

I don't find them annoying, I just don't really read them. Generally when I leave a forum it's because I have no use in being there or it just isn't a forum for me. Though I have a different email for different things, one of them being registering for forums and other things. I consider it my spam email. If I decide to stay on that forum, I just change my email to my actual one.
I just ignore them too, Why report them as spam DarkGizmo ? I'm not sure why you would do that to be honest
I don't find them annoying. If you don't want to receive such emails, you can always email the webmaster, they can opt you out for such emails.
