Hostgator. 100% uptime, fantastic speeds, incredible support. Love 'em.

The only host I have used in my entire life has been HostGator. Haven't even bothered to go towards the other hosts. Haven't bothered to try any other one. I wanted to try godaddy in the past but my friend told me his experience with them and it put a big X in my mind when I think of them for hosting now.

I know there are also some free hosts that are completely free and all they ask is to have ads in cPanel which no one else will see. Those sound pretty cool. I know 1 or 2 sites like that. Will post them up soon.
