    Hey all

So, I am looking to upgrade my system; I want to play games better.
Here's what I'm running right now:

Like I said, I'd like to play games a bit better. So, what do you all recommend I upgrade, and how much will it be costing me? Thanks a lot for all replies :)

New processor, Athlon is not the best. Also the graphics card, At least a GTX 550.

Thanks for the reply mate...any specific processor I should look for? As for my graphics card, I'm not really sure at all what to look for :p

Well for performance, Not an AMD, go intel, I have AMD, but i can't afford an Intel. But that would mean a new motherboard.

AMD is best at graphics. for better experience go with HD 6950 graphics card and intel i7 processor.

I diagree, but it's up to the OP to choose.

    Good Idea.

That's barely better than what I have now...

But it has 6 cores! :D I don't even know if that would be noticeable but it sounds cool. :L

Lol, I'm probably going to get an intel i7 dual or quadcore with a GTX 550 ;)

How is an i7 better than a Xeon? (Yes that is a genuine question :L)
  14. Darthmaul Uncle Darth

It is better for what I'm using it for. The i7 I want would get about 3.8 GHz, and I don't really want something with 6 cores just because :p
  15. Clarkie AF Power User

Oh, so you need less cores but more power/core for a game but more cores for a web server or something like that?

    ??????

I was looking at the Mac pro. The Xeon had a lower clock speed and more cores and was in the machine that cost loads more. The i7 machines had higher clock speed, less cores and about half the price. :L

The Xeon is a server processor made to be ran with ECC Buffered RAM, so there is no point, go for a high performance processor, Like you said, and Intel core i7.
