TechOverdriveReviewed February 1st, 2012 by a reviewer at Adminforums.org First Impressions: First looking at your forum I thought that there were a few things that could be immediately improved. Although it was your choice to run off of IPBoard, I think that it's somewhat unfair for you to "beg" your users. By this I mean that your "Please help keep the forum open." post on the homepage shouldn't really belong there. I also think that alot of your forums needs to be more ambiguous. Meaning more clear about what your intentions are, and also adding some containers here and there to separate content, since at the moment it's all one big clutter of "stuff" (explained more in look and feel). (19/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Look and Feel: Continuing from the first impression section; I think that you should add some borders or lines here and there to separate some of your content. For example, you could add a line before each forum section, so that you can easily tell that you're moving on to a new forum instead of a sub-forum (I know that you know, however some people still get confused.) The overall goal here is to make your forum as easy to look at as possible. Alot of people like to have a place where they can find things easily... A place that is convenient. I love the overall header look, which has a circular type gradient that moves out. It looks perfect. (22/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Organization: There are just a few things that could be improved in your overall organization. First off, I think that you could make your descriptions visible, instead of a tooltip that only shows on hover. It will give anyone viewing your forum a better look on what each forum is about. Things can go wrong and somehow your tooltips may not show, and you may lose users from it. Secondly, I think that you could make your sub-forums hidden on the index, so that they show only when you view a forum. It makes a forum overall; more organized. (18/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Members and Staff: I think that 2 moderators for a community of 40 members. You could remove one of them for now, or have them both on board and tell one of them to fetch more members. That's your choice though. Good luck (22/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Good Points: Well Designed.----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Bad points: There's an error on your memberslist page.----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Total Score: 81/100
Thanks! I will remove the homepage message A few Points: - I do not know how to add a border in between the forums, I think that is CSS - I will remove the subforums - What do you mean by "containers"? - About the memberlist issue, I have sent in a help ticket about that Back to Calculus homework
Containers are things that contain something... Pretty much fixes it if you add a border. and yes, it's css. Please leave feedback for me here: http://www.adminforums.org/threads/review-feedback.28020/
