TechnicianinaBoxReviewed 4/29/12 by a reviewer at Adminforums.org First Impressions: The very first thing that I noticed when I entered your website was the logo. It seems to me (and it could be for others) that it's blurry. I think that you should also get a better image of the man next to the word box, it's very small and not clear. A higher quality image would suffice. I think that you've overly used text-shadows also, and you could do with some work to find a substitution for that. I think that for something to do on the homepage you could have the little banners about becoming a technician turn into links, and those links can take you to pages that explain more about the program. At first glance, it doesn't seem like there's enough information about what's going on on the homepage for anyone to really believe it. I think that also the website isn't attention getting enough. This will be explained more in the next section of the review. (18/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Look and Feel: For me a forum/website has to get your attention in order to draw someone into it and keep them there. I think that this website doesn't really do that. It uses plain colors and doesn't draw your eyes to anything. Color variation can help you in this case. Having the light blue on the background, you'd need a different color so that one's gaze draws to what you want to see. For example you can make people look at those central banners by changing their color to a greenish color. This way, people would end up seeing it. I think that something else you could work on would be to have the text different on the banners. A bold title makes it easier to read, and then a smaller description in a legible font makes things look more professional. Hopefully you know what I mean by this. Also something that you could work on is the footer. To me it looks like you haven't used any padding in it, so it is sitting against the side of the container. If you add some padding it will move further away from the left side. And as stated in the paragraph above, some of the titles are very hard to read with the text shadow. You either need to remove the text shadow or make the font bigger so that the shadow and the text don't blend together so much. (20/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Organisation: I definitely think that your website is doing well on the organization side. Although I think that the sidebar could do with some titles for each widget. Currently there's too much information in each one without a title, so if someone were to try to find something for instance in the making the business box, they wouldn't be able to find it quickly. I think that also for added organization you could add a search feature. I don't think that many people will be able to instantly find the sitemap at the bottom of the website, so a keyword search would work out much better for a website like yours. There's no members or staff page. Sorry!
