still using phpbb2?

  1. ShadyX Who else?

    Have you seen any forums that still use phpbb2 or do you still use it yourself? what are your reasons behind not updating?

    I keep stumbling across forums still using it and i often wonder why they have not upgraded to phpbb3 :)

    They could have liked mod's on phpbb2 and not found a replacement in phpbb3 :)

    I came across one called MXProject, I think the reason is they run on a modified version of phpBB2 that someone made. Any a lot of forumotion forums still use phpBB2 due to forumotion not offering template edits for phpBB3.

    Phpbb2 forums have lots of flaws and can be easily hacked so i wouldn't recommend using it.

    Some people may be using mods and certain things on their phpbb2 forum like the one where it gives you myspace like profiles, thats only for phpbb2.

    Its true like what frank said. People are now able to hack phpBB2 which is not good. I know a forum that is still running on phpBB2! It looks so fake thats how I know.

    I've used the three big free softwares - MyBB has been the best even without it's plugin system. (I've used others as well :L)

    I agree but I should add this: It is all personal opinions, some people like MyBB, some like phpBB, some like SMF, it's all just personal opinion.

    I am an active member on one, it works fine and does not need all the fancy crap that people insist a forum needs to be popular, this forum has over 100k posts and 2k members and everyone enjoys it for what it is a forum to discuss, not to moan about not having this mod installed or that mod installed.

    To be honest, I don't LIKE t0 join a forum if it is not on the latest software ( Excluding vB ). The looks are just not appealing to me so I choose not to join. ;)

    I think only forumotion forums use a heavily modified phpBB2 version so its not the default phpBB2 software.
