I was bored today so I decided to whip up a basic forum system.

    Features:
    1. Register/Login
    2. User Groups (Currently Admin, Mod and Member)
    3. Administration Panel (Add/Manage Categories and Forums, Users. Deletion coming soon)
    To do:
    1. Password Recovery
    2. Anti spam measures (probably going to use akismet or stopforumspam)
    3. Stats (Not too keen on this)
    4. User profiles/editing
    5. Moderation tools
Screenshots! (Because I don't have a proper domain name. Yet.)
    Backend:
View attachment 199 View attachment 200 View attachment 201 View attachment 202 View attachment 203 View attachment 204
    Frontend:
View attachment 205 View attachment 206 View attachment 207 View attachment 208

Thoughts? Should I keep on working on it?

    Looks great thus far.

Not easy task is it :) I know I literally built (coded) my community from just a idea.
  6. Andrew Member

You did this in one day? Impressive.

You should tell us how you did it :D
  7. GAF The best in the world

I really like this. There is obviously a long way to go with this to make it a good system for users. But with the hard work that you have put in within a one day time period, after years of development this could be a really big and good script. Good luck!

DarkGizmo: I worked on the ACP before the frontend, hence the lack of styling. Heh. I kinda like the style of the frontend though.
SD&D Auctions: You coded that whole site in your signature from scratch? I don't think I have the willpower (or motivation!) to do such a thing. You sir, have my respect. :)
Andrew: I just felt bored, opened up DW, and coded away. And somehow ended up with what you see. lol.
GAF: Thank you, I would probably need some help along the way though. Pretty sure the code could be made better. :p

Once again, thank you for the kind words. Now I have the motivation. The reason I take so long to reply is because I live in a different timezone from all of you (well, mostly. I think) So when you guys are active, I am asleep. lol.

Also, I cannot post links here. Haha.

The backend looks easy to navigate but the forum interface itself is kinda lacking.

I understand. I'm not much of a designer (as you can tell) I'm more of a programmer. :p
  11. Rene Member

You should find a designer to hire :)

Maybe when I release the forum for usage, I'm currently setting it up as a support forum for my CMS which I am about to release. :p

I don't have permission to view the screenshots?? Anyway I did start coding a forum system a few months ago and it's probably about 20% done, lol. I lost motivation and now I'm working on other projects.

Unfortunately, no. Its sitting on my hard drive. I might just pass it on to someone else if they want it. The code is not the cleanest though. Real life sucks. ):
