    Should staff/owner see ads?
I think as the owner you should endure whatever your users have to endure, and that includes ads.

    What do you think?

    Yes.
    1. You can see if the ads are not properly displaying.
    2. You get a better overall feel for how the site looks...

Yes, otherwise how do you know if they are being displayed/targeted correctly? The only thing you would then have to watch is that you don't accidentally click on them :giggle:

I believe you should as it's only fair. Plus you have to know what is being displayed to your users and how it's being displayed. But yes, don't click on them or you would have a bigger issue to deal with

I always set it so I can, well it would take extra unneeded work to get them to not display for me. Plus, I want to make sure they are functioning correctly and see if any spots are free so I can get working on selling them out again ;)

Yes it should be turned on for staff too.

Or intentionally- always good to remove the temptation!

If you have premium membership then staff who pay for it shouldn't be forced to have ads. The owner should see the ads or at least be able to check them, what if the ads you get aren't quite what you expect? It's up to the owner to decide if it's part of the staff's job to monitor ads.

Good points everyone. I agree, though sometimes it's very tempting to disable them for myself since they make the site slower :p

Ya, if you are going to make everyone else see them, then why should'nt you?

If your ads have that much of an impact on your site I recommend upgrading your hosting ;)
  13. lucasbytegenius Active Member

Makes no sense to me because the ads are served from Google, not from my host ;)
  14. Darthmaul Uncle Darth

Your bandwidth would still be affected by that ;)

I really doubt it man o_O I don't see how that is even remotely possible...

No it wouldn't.. that's like saying if I embed a YouTube video here it'll drain bandwidth from this site.

It is useful to see what ads are appearing on your website.

He's talking about the fact you have to load the ads. Yes it would use a small amount of bandwidth but you shouldn't notice it because the rest of the site would still load around it even if it was slow.

What he's basically saying though is that upgrading my hosting will make the ads load faster :p lol

Yeah because if the website loads faster then the ads will appear quicker. :L It won't actually speed up the ads but the content around it.
