You may have noticed our community was down and was being redirected to a suspended page, This is related to the Malware warning users were getting a few days back when one of our old FTP accounts was comprimised. I removed all malicious files, Or so I thought. One file remained undetected on another small website of mine completly unrelated to AdminForums and early hours this morning it activated and began to mass mail people from our account, as a precaution HawkHost suspended our hosting account until we were able to resolve the issue. Just now all websites apart from AF have been moved into a hidden folder while I manually restore all websites in our account with fresh files.

I would like to remind users that all their personal infomation is safe and always will be, The comprimised FTP account had no access to our database where your infomation is stored. It was by sheer luck that this old FTP account was comprimised and we have further upped our security since to prevent any incidents like this in the future.

Thanks again and I apologize for any inconviniance this may have caused, Have a merry Christmas :)

Yeah... the same thing happened with one of my clients... the exploited PHP files started to send mass email... and that was also by FTP... are these connected?
and I think as everyone here is a "webmaster", we all know that database and FTP are to different stuff so no need to worry if your cPanel account or MySQL account is not compromised ;)
