Do any of you guys know if phpbb 4 is going to come out or whether there is ever going to be a phpbb 4? It seems like phpbb 3 has been around for a long time now and they need a newer version with even more features! What do you think?
It's the first time I hear about it. Don't know anything about the possible new version. it's true I stopped using phpBB years ago

You've got more chance of snow drifts in the Sahara than phpBB4 being released. The constant updates to phpBB is what made me change to Xenforo, it just became a pain updating the core, then having to update all the MOD's two or three times a year.
Hey creaky that forum link you gave me had phpbb 4.0 Rhea discussion...so there could be hope that it will come out!
That thread was started in Dec 2009, and they are now further down the line with phpBB4 now than they were then
They've always been a bit slow with major releases from my experience. It took about 3 or 4 years after phpBB 2 for phpBB 3 to come out.
Wow...it seems like the popular opinion here is that it wont' come for like 4 years! Man, phpbb really is going to lose out from this.
I think 2 -3 was at least that, and they are still issuing updates for 3, which I cannot understand, it works so why keep trying to fix it. With phpBB it's a case of too many cooks, none of them can agree on what and what not to do, or include or leave out in 4. then all the MODS will need upgrading yet again, so even if they do publish it, it will be few months before it's any good to anyone.
Yea,the next version of phpbb will be 3.1 and I find out that,there will be extensions(easy modding).
