Admin Forums Medium Review:----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- First Impressions: I have always been a fan of the default IPB 3.2 theme, but it is greatly overused. There is also a major bug in the header, which I will talk about later. When I look at your statistics, I notice that they are impressive, but your forum isn't overly active at this time. In the past 24 hours, only 11 users have visited your forum. Four of which are staff members. Those statistics need to improve to achieve a higher mark. Your organisation is pretty tidy, although it isn't very unique. Most of the forums I visit have the same hierarchy as this one. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with it, it is totally fine, but it is used everywhere and I think that a few minor changes need to be made to improve it a tad more. Your grammar is perfect from what I see. Nothing can be done to improve it, I'm impressed. You have a very nice forum here, well done on it! (21/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Look and Feel: As I already mentioned in the above section, the default IPB 3.2 theme is extremely overused and if you wish your forum to become more noticed, I suggest either changing it to a new one that is rarely used, or purchasing a custom theme from an IPB designer. The latter would be the most effective, but I understand that a lot of people don't have much in their budget. The first thing I noticed when clicking on your forum's link is the major bug in the header. It's a fairly big turn off and it needs to be fixed as soon as possible. The top part of the header is a smooth running gradient, until it suddenly changes to a solid block colour. It is an easy fix and I will be able to assist you if you need any help. The logo is unique, and I love the font. I am impressed by your mascot, it's always a good feature. It makes your forum stand out from the rest. I wouldn't usually mix that shade of grey with blue, but you have done it nicely and it produces a great contrast. I also like the fact that the sub-text appears to be sitting in front of the main name instead of underneath it. It is very unique. I am a great fan of your banner, well done! (19/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Organisation: As I said in the "first impressions" section, the organisation and forum layout of "Front Desk" is not very unique at all. Practically any forum I visit has the same old structure: "News & Announcements"; "Community Suggestions"; "Introduction Section". To get a higher mark, I suggest that you think about this and what you can do to improve it. Think outside the box. Who says the Front Desk has to be at the top of the forum? Besides this, I love the fact that you have a separate forum for your "Halloween Carnival" contest. I don't see that very often, so kudos on that! The rest of the structure is a little more unique. Having a sub-forum for each forum software is neat, tidy and organised. But I'm not sure about the "Services" section. I had to look to find that and seeing as your forum's niche is promotion/webmaster/admin, the "Services" section should receive maximum exposure, thus I suggest giving it it's own category on the index page instead of inside another one. Good work on the forum layout! Although there is a lot of room for improvement, I can see that you have made an effort to make it look good, so nice job! Although the forum has impressive statistics, you have a low count of members visiting your forum daily. This needs to be worked on a lot. Have a posting competition or something along the lines of one, try to get a few more active members in. On the contrary, the members that are active have a decent amount of posts. That is always a plus. A forum full of members with a few posts each is very off-putting and untidy so good work on that. You have an organised staff team. I feel that three administrators and two moderators is the perfect number for a community of ForuMansion's size. All of the staff members have a reasonable amount of posts and seem very professional and friendly in their posts. Your reviewer comes across to me as a hard worker, he has completed a decent amount of reviews, so pass on my congratulations to him! Overall, your staff team looks fine to me but you need to work on your posts/members ratio and the activity of the members. Good job!
