Not an official reviewer, but i always have comments 1. LOVE THE BACKGROUND - wow, it's superb. Nice, colourful and still not distracting. 2. can't see the logo - maybe make it 'silver'-like. Don't know. It's hard to distinguish from the background 3. love the 'slider'. It's so nice to see something a bit different 4. like the navigation menu too. Am sick of same stock designs. Can't really fault your forum with anything. I like it too much
Hey, How do you create the Slider? I mean this Pictures in the Slider. And how do you put these little Icons next to the Staff, Members, Statistics. Please give me a Tutorial. btw: NICE FORUM!
I have been getting complaints about the logo, will get it changed ASAP with something more soothing to the eyes, and thanks again for the un-official review The icons are template edits and here is the thread to know how to do them http://xenforo.com/community/threads/icons-block-to-sidebar.9443/ I simply created the images myself with Photoshop and added them to the slider, so they won't be dull and boring. If you want the code for it. I can PM it to you.
NextGenGamersReviewed February 8th, 2012 by a reviewer at Adminforums.org First Impressions: The very first thing that I saw when entering your forum was the banner. It's very hard to read. The dark top of the logo clashes with the dark background behind it. This is a must-fixso that users know what they're viewing. The other thing I noticed is the all of the JQuery that's happening on your forum. I think that a forum should make loading times as small as possible, and shouldn't have too much movement. I believe that yours has way too much. You have a moving slider, a hover over description, moving ads, a sliding login page, and javascript social media icons. I think that you need to reduce the amount of javascript running on your page. It currently has an average loading time of 0.99 seconds. (18/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Look and Feel: One thing that I really liked about your overall look was the changing images on the Category headers. Many forums just have plain old headers that don't really do anything, and yours look way better! I think, however that your background needs to be bigger so that it fits the whole page, because for me; the small black bar floating at the bottom of the page bugs me. I don't know if it's just the image, but in my opinion it should be changed. Another word of advice would be to not use too many images. For some of your buttons such as the sign up now button, the background is an image. Using images over text makes things hard to read, and in my mind shouldn't be used all too often, instead, they should be used as less as possible for designing the overall theme. As a final input, I think that the small buttons on your pages that are directly under the navigation bar should have a different effect. In my mind, they should do the current effect on hover, and when they're not pushed they should have a slightly darker background. This can all be done in CSS so that it doesn't stretch out your loading time. (20/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Organization: Looking at your forum there isn't too much things that are unorganized, just there's a lot of clutter hanging around the forum in the form of 'busyness'. Your forum in places is very busy, such as on the sidebars, as well as the header, where you've tried to fit in a bunch of things into a small space. The forum also gets really busy when you hover over the forum titles to get a description to show, and doesn't look good in my opinion. Also the mix of colors don't really fit well together. (21/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Members and Staff:I think right where you're at is a good place to start at for the staff members, and I think that for now you shouldn't add any more members to admins nor moderators. Keeping the forum proportions balanced is important for me, and it's something that my forum really focuses on. The ratio that I go by is 1:75... 1 staff member to 75 members, so a forum of 300 should have 4 staff members... Perfect for you! This ratio however goes out of the window when your member count starts to really rise, then, it's up to you to pick who and how many people you want as a staff member on your forum. As a final opinion I think that you should take retired staff, and Premium Members off of the staff list page. They don't really fit there. (23/25) ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Good Points: Sleek Overall Look----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- -------------------Bad points: Too much Javascript----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- ------------------- Total Score: 82/100Word Count: 570
Pretty much what I was expecting, thanks for the review and I will seriously consider some of the comments you did on the forum to improve it.
