I’m excited to announce that AdminForums will be one of a select group of media partners at ForumCon 2012. If you aren’t familiar with ForumCon, check out the details below. It’s one of the only conferences in the world dedicated to bringing together the top leaders in the forum community to learn and network with one another during a 1-day event.

As a media partner, we may just have a couple free tickets to give away here and there as well (and you’ll see our logo here and there over the course of the event!). We’ll also have some exclusive content leading up the event (to be shared within this thread), including video interviews, special announcements, and session information.

    Where We’ll be Meeting
ForumCon SF will take place on June 12th at the posh Hotel Kabuki in the heart of downtown San Francisco. The event will kick off at 9am and conclude with a cocktail hour for networking / conversation at a restaurant / lounge nearby.

More information on location as well as how to get tickets can be found here.

    What We’ll Be Covering

    1. Kris Jones, author of SEO: Your visual blueprint for effective internet marketing will show you how to better leverage Google Search, Mobile, News, +, to generate more traffic to your forum.
    2. Tyler Tanaka of PostRelease will share best practices for content curation & creation that will wow your community members and keep them coming back.
    3. Steve Dodd of Boardreader will lead a panel of social media experts, and forum owners that have successfully leveraged social media, to discuss ways forum owners can successfully leverage Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites to drive traffic to their sites (rather than away from).
    4. A panel of monetization experts (representing all types of forum monetization options -- images, banner ads, content, link insertion, data, video) will answer all your questions on how to EARN MORE from your forum.
    5. And much more, to be shared within this thread as the information become available.

    In the Co-Founders Own Words
“I wanted to provide forum owners with a venue to congregate, network and get better at being an administrator … for me, ForumCon is just that … it allows me to meet new people, put faces to names, and learn new things.”

    Jack Bafia
    Forum Owner
    Co-Founder, ForumCon
    Chief Monetization Officer, VigLink

Watch the video for more on how Jack got his start as a forum owner and what he gets out of ForumCon...

We would also like to announce AdminForums is also partnering with ForumCon to provide a few free tickets in the future. The details on those will be released soon on how to get a pair if your interested.

p.s. check-in with this thread for up-to-date details on speakers, sessions, and exclusive video interviews with top forum owners attending.

Cannot wait for this! I wish I could go, but I'm already going to one convention...and it was pretty expensive :(
All who are going...take extensive video! :p

This is great news I wish I could go, but I live on the Atlantic side of the country and have no money to travel.
  4. ShadyX Who else?

Too bad I can't make it this year, I would have loved to attend. :)

Oliver Roup, the CEO of in-content link company VigLink, shares why he founded ForumCon.

As Oliver says, "In talking to [our customers, a lot of whom are forum owners] we realized there was no place for forum owners to meet, to hang out, to discuss the industry. And we realized a lot of leaders in the field had never met each other, so we thought, 'Let's put together a meeting place for all these guys to get together, get to know each other, and we can get to know them.'"

As Julia says, "Let's use [as an example] [forums about motors]... [There might be] a team of people chatting away about one particular motor versus another motor, for that traffic to come back to eBay, and targeting that specific motor that they're talking about and... vouching for or promoting... it's great for us because we're obviously going to see a conversion come out of that..."

"For us, the future of forums is actually not thinking of them so much as forums [and instead] thinking of them as groups... not thinking of them as static pages but as real-time pages... So I don't think you've seen a forum until you've sat on the topic page and watched conversation threads bumped to the top in real time..."

Sounds like a great time. I'm already going to a convention in May, and I don't have that much money to travel. Plus it's too far away from home for my liking. That'd be awesome if someone who was going would post videos for the rest of us. Even just a little clip here and there of different parts of the convention would be enough.

I'm sure there will be lots of ForumCon footage. Until then, I have some more clips from ForumCon Chicago:

At ForumCon 2011, a panel of experts takes a closer look at the affiliate nexus tax. Most online transactions are untaxed, especially those where the purchaser is in a different state than the seller. State affiliate nexus taxes would extend sales taxes to online purchases.
