These days it seems more and more webhosting companies are appearing out of nowhere offering all kinds of deals and extras. With the saturation of the web hosting market how can new hosting companies become sucsessful? Its simple.. They cant. That is why in my opnion that there are so many crappy shut down overnight hosts around.. They simply cannot compete with millions of other hosting companies. What are your views on this? Is the webhosting industry overcrowded? How would a new host fend for itself out in the big internet jungle?
I do feel that it would be extremley hard to break through if you own a new hosting company, things like this get even more saturated each day. Unless you opened up way back when then I seriously doubt many can last more than a year.
Most of them are just resellers from the major hosting companies. But I wouldn't say all of them are crappy and I also wouldn't say they can't compete. I owned a master reseller account 2 years ago and I achieved 80 or so clients, each paying on time each month. It just depends on what you can offer, that others don't.
You can break through in anything with the right effort but yeah it does seem like a pointless excersise if there are millions of other hosts out there.
Yes, definitely. Mainly due to the fact that a lot of the people who start them up think "I really need some cash... Oh, I know, I'll start up a badly run web hosting company of a cheap reseller from sweden" long story short, the company (and I say company in the loosest sense) fails and is then sometimes sold on DP.
It most certainly is, like @TheNova @The Reverend has said, most are just out to make cash quick via a reseller, which is not the case in the hosting industry. It takes a lot of time, effort & investment to make yourself known and make clients choose you over the big competitors
Yes. So many people think cause they can run a shared hosting package they can run a web hosting site. Kiddy hosts stay open no longer then 3 months.
I think it is overcrowded too, well atleast wwith lots of little hosts trying to make it big or people wanting to try and make a quick buck from selling shared hosting via their cheap reseller packages.
I agree with many others here. It's very overcrowded.I have a reseller and really only have some friends and family on it.It is open to public but with so many other hosts I doubt I would get any clients.
It can be. There is not enough decent post to host or free hosts, the competition is not as good for them sort of hosts.
problem with free hosts or post to host is someone has to pay a hosting bill and I think alot realize that after time.
Well it is defiantly one of the more "crowded" things on the internet but then again nothing comes easy that is actually worth anything so yeah it would be hard but I think if you have a good understanding of what you are getting into then it should not really be a huge problem. Webhosting is something that I would not try my hand at though.. It seems quite stressful
It is, indeed. But at the same time, it gives customers more choices to choose from!! From the customers' point of view, it is a good thing. From our (companies') point of view, this industry is way too competitive , there is not way to impress somebody else.
