well by looking at smf it doesn't look on the same level of other free forum software like mybb or phpbb.. is it too simple to class as a major software? there development cycle is also very slow.. what do you guys think about smf
I like SMF, but I only been there from the member perspective. I even feel that they are a tad understimated. I also recall hearing they were harder to intall mods, as in you need a good coding idea or it could cost you the whole community... I ignore if this bit is truth or just an exaggeration.
SMF just has bad mods and styles. The best styles you'd get if they were paid. SMF also has bad mods.
I haven't personally used smf too much, just on a couple of test forums but like anything, its only as good as you make it
I agree with Gravity Rox. Most SMF forums I go on, I feel like puking, the designs are so horrible. If I see a SMF forum my mouse goes to that x button so fast it's a blur.
Wow so many SMF haters you all must be phpbb lovers Smf isn't too simple it's just easy to add mods and themes. There are many many great themes out there.I have been using forums for over a decade and i have to say it's one of the best software i have used and yes i have used phpbb and mybb.
@Allan PHPBB is complicated, all themes have to look professional and the ACP is complicated. So no not a phpBB lover but I am myBB lover.
I personally like both phpbb and mybb for different reasons. phpbb has a a nice business type approach while mybb has more of a chilled out look Back to this, SMF is not too simple but i do see alot of things they can improve on. I have seen nice themes for SMF that rival some themes for paid software. It all depends on the way you portray your smf forum
