Is art school a waste of time?

I like animation, but I really don't want to get a degree if it's pretty much worthless.

If you want to do something in art, then take it.

If its something you want to make a career out of then yes. For example some people would say the same about photography courses but I don't because I want to be a F1/Tennis Photographer & Journalist It is all down to what you want to do and as long as you have wanted to do it for a long period of time (you know is not a phase then) then go for it and don't let people stop you.

If you're good, it's worth it.

If you like what your learning and want to make a career out of it, go for it. Otherwise find a subject you really like, and go for that instead.

If you have the skills go to the school to develop it, do not try to rediscover the discovery!!!

Animation. Wouldn't that be IT

No, Animation is one of the best forms of art imo.
From my knowledge IT is just something schools use to teach students how to make power points.

So Maddy, it's been a while since your post. What did you decide - are you taking some courses at art school?

It's not pointless to learn and get closer to your dream. I want to be a manga artist, but i suck at drawing..

If you like it, and you know you want to do that in your life, then it isn't a waste of time, and you should go with it.

In my opinion, college is a waste of time unless you are going to be a doctor or lawyer. If your going to do anything that involves business (including technology) just get a simple certification and get a job. You will make more money and not waste your 20s sitting in a classroom.

It shouldn't matter what other's say. You will know it inside of you if its worth it Just try it out

Art is a great subject for people who take time to look at it i enjoyed art at school one of my fav subjects
