Tyler, developer of TinyBB community software shares a few words about it. 1) We know Tyler as a good developer. Can we know more about your personal life? I am a pretty average guy I think! I have 2 brothers and my parents. I live in a little apartment with my flat friend and best friend, we both attend a school/college. I go to the gym regularly so I can stay fit and I love bowling! 2) How was TinyBB started and what's the motive behind it? Jake started TinyBB, Jake Steele. It started for his online MMOCC game he was creating, he created a basic forum and then decided to create another but standalone, that's how he got the knowledge to build upon it. After the 1.0 release he asked me if I wanted to help, so I said yes. 3) Can we know more about the Staff team and their respective positions? There are only 3 team members, me, Jake and Daniel. I am a and Daniel is a tester, but Jake is the one who does, 90% of the PHP coding of TinyBB. I am more of an editor and make sure the designs work cross-browser. 4) TinyBB seems to be a lightweight community software. Do you planned to keep it lightweight or its going to be fully featured like phpBB, Xenforo, etc ? It'd be nice to see TinyBB up there with the top open source forum scripts, but I doubt "TinyBB" will ever be there, I'm sure it'll be noticed but we don't have the skills at this time to compete with any of the leading forums, in the future maybe we will! 5) What are the best and worst moments you witnessed during TinyBB development? The best moments are when we finished a brand new feature and are ready to release it, but the worst moments are when we get an email reporting an exploit, but we fought through it! 6) Even in its early stages, TinyBB seems to have a good number Addon and Themes, including Shoutbox, Awards system, etc. How did you achieve this? Community members just did it, we didn't ask for it, we made a page for modifications, Daniel did us a little awards system and then everyone else started editing the script. 7) What are the new features you have planned for TinyBB 2? Post Icons New Categories Better Administration Better Moderation Better Design Perks Better Social Features 8) Where do you see TinyBB in future? All we want from TinyBB is to get it used on forums that appreciate the work we put into it. Since it was started in December 2010 it's in no way been set-up to compete with other forums, just to provide a new experience. ----------------------------------- Thanks for sharing your views with Script Installs Community, Tyler. We wish best of luck for you and other TinyBB developers. I'm sure it will become a widely used Forum Software in near future.
