Well I created this ages ago and it probably doesn't make much sense but thought I'd post it since 2787cmt was talking about this post in a thread in this board. Enjoy, sorry if it doesn't make sense and written in the language of PB (aka headers and footers is "editing the template".) If your wanting to get some staff for your forum you may want to read over these quick tips MAKE SURE THEY WILL HELP! That's what staff are for, to help you (the admin/creator of the forum) out. You don't want a staff member who doesn't help at all because thats a waste of that position. How do I know if they will help? If as just a member they are giving you loads or some suggestions to help out the forum this may mean that they might be a good staff member. A good tip is to start them small (a moderator) so they don't abuse their powers and see if they help out then. After that its up to you to decide whither they get a higher position or not. If you know the person who your thinking of becoming staff this is good! Hopefully you trust them which is better than giving someone a for example admin position when you don't know them but they say they will help out a lot and then end up not. Tip: If staff have access to headers and footers make sure you make a back up of your headers and footers incase they abuse their powers. Hopefully this will give you some idea of employing staff on your forum
Excellent advice in general. I don't believe people should have admin positions EVER. I am a 'co-admin' for a client of mine, who's delegating all the work to me. So, I need to have full access since it's my job and I'm actually being paid to do this. Otherwise I don't think it's 'healthy' to let people into admin panel. For mods though, you'll surely notice some members who are always there for your community. You can 'promote' them to mod positions, when you feel like you need the help, but never forget you'll need to manage them too. I had quite some nasty things done by mods, who started banning accounts they didn't 'like' etc. I didn't have the time to look at the logs on a daily basis and realized after MONTHS that some of my good members were gone. They received warnings enough to 'lock' their account. So now I am alone as staff and it works great. I banned few accounts, made sure the rules are enforced and it's a pleasure running the forum. I am encouraging all members to REPORT bad threads of bahviour and it's easier for me to see the bigger picture, since I'm the only one there.
