How much have you spent on SEO and advertising? I guess the most i've spent is probably $200.... $150 for a vBSEO license and $50 for something else to help SEO results and such. What about you?
I agree with the two above. You just need to work hard for it. Like anything you want to accomplish, you need to work hard for... an education, a good position where you work, a family, etc. The same with SEO and websites. Sure you can pay to do this but why? What is the point? I think it looks better on a community that worked hard to get where they are!
I've spent a little on insider SEO books in the past, and then started my own work. Depending on the competition, I can get a site to number #1 in a matter of hours.
I haven't spent anything quite yet, but I haven't really made an effort to improve my SEO. Before I do that, I need to have the site running smoother. After that, I'll probably throw in some money for promotion, and maybe even some google adwords.
I think spending on advertising is a good thing but I wouldn't spend anything on SEO, do it yourself instead unless of course your buying an SEO modification or something like that!
Probably 4 hours to get the ball rolling, then weeks to get number of content up, - after that it's just the community helping out.
