What happened to you guys the first time around? Everything looked to be going so well..

Well, it surely doesn't look to good to restart forums, if you can still work something out and, as Shady said, you were doing pretty OK anyway.

Still, best of luck with the new setting. Let's hope the previous run was a good lesson and you'll achieve success from now on ;)

Not all content on a forum will be high quality, It is very rare that you will find any forum that has 100% HQ posts. You grow to live with that after some time, you have to let your members communicate how they want to communicate. Well that is my view anyways.

Good luck with the re-launch and I hope you do get those HQ posts you were looking for (y)

if I remember correctly, FH had some kinda 'P2H' service... so the amount of 'low-quality' WILL be high ;)
  8. forumhookers Active Member

I'm a member of a forum with nothing but HQ posts. The way it's done? It's got tighter controls than Apple and that says an awful lot... Unless you want to do something like invite only or carefully measure the quality of new member's posts you will just have to accept it won't happen.

We are doing necessary steps to maintain quality control. Soon you guys see a HQ forum with tons of useful post.

Well, content quality was never an issue for me. I try to set an example to all my members and they will mimic you, that's clear. When you see someone posting less quality messages, contact them privately and steer them into the right direction. I don't have limits for my members or stuff like this, but I do take action when I see someone posting crap in my community. The moment you are posting good content yourself and have a 'core' of members who are also setting a great example, the community will follow the lead.
  13. Clarkie AF Power User

True but it does depends on the type of members you have.
  14. dojo Active Member

You don't keep bad members. They either start posting decent stuff or they are out. So it's not really a matter of what members you have, but what members you decide to keep :D

Fortunately most members do take inspiration from others, so they post OK. I had to ban one guy only who was repeatedly told to put some more effort into his posts.
  15. Clarkie AF Power User

You have to have enough members in the first place for that to be possible.

Yeah. Agreed. Restarting a forum will be a bad experience for the old members for sure.
