Started making one when I was trying to learn PHP, ran out of time and had to give up. Will probably pick it up again in the summer after my exams when I have some time off.

I built my own cms which went against the grain of the bloated, bulky and "You must use our templates" cms systems. It's sitting somewhere in my hard drive. I don't know if I should release it. Heh.

I created a CMS but it turned out to simple so i created another php project which i had to stop since i only have enough time to manage a forum, Might pick it up again next summer.

Made one for a client, does exactly what he needs. If you can make plugins for existing ones instead it could save an awful lot of time!

Yup, I have. For anybody thinking about doing it though, i highly advocate the use of a framework such as FuelPHP - it makes development 1000 times faster.

Have tried to learn some programming, understood some about mysql (which is OK since i routinely have to work on various phpmyadmin tasks), but hit a wall with php. Looks like I am not smart enough for it. So no chance to make an entire CMS :D

I think if you're a web developer and have a lot of sites it would be worth doing. Instead of using HTML/CSS/PHP for every single site, you have the basics down packed and then can just adjust it to suit your project. You'd know the CMS inside and out and over time you could build it into something that is comparable to other CMS's out there.

I never even tried creating one, because I found everything i was looking for in Wordpress.
So, i see no need to reinvent hot water :)
