Best Ways To Promote A Forum

    What is the best way to promote a new forum? I have joined a few forums and already been a member on some which were forum services which are the only forums I really go on but it has not helped get new members on the forum. I even have a twitter account for the forum which gets views for the board but not members.

    It's really dependent on your forum, mate. I could say many things(join a promotion forum, really push social networking, etc. etc.). It's just too general of a query to make an accurate statement IMO ;)

    I only know 3 promotion forums and 2 of those are quite new. Antiquus, Forum Spark & Forum Promotion are the ones I have used but it does not seem to work. With social networking I have a twitter account for the board but it only gets guest views :/

    True, these forums that you listed is not work able though for promotion of forum needs something which works well and do the things for populating it. I need it too. Please share with us to contributing a helping hands for needy ones.

    Well, I obviously have to mention my forum(Promotion Box), but it's really not that hard to find promotion forums. A good bit of people advertise them on FP, so just browse the list on the general advertising section, and join them all and post a bit and then advertise your forum. I join a good bit, at least I used to when I really was a try-hard with promoting :p

    Theres no instant solution to getting members, an whilst promotion forums can help they should not be where you put your sole efforts.

    1. Post on related blogs, and other forums, try to leave a backlink* as often as you can, either in you signature or as anchor text.

    2.Make sure content is added to your forum on a regular basis, also make sure all the content is original

    3. Register with the top search engines, google, bing and Yahoo, they will find you, but the process will be quicker if you register

    4. Construct a sitemap, it's a great tool for search engines

    5. Start a blog related to your forum, Google loves blogs, and so do prospective members, Wordpress is good.

    6 Patience and lots of it, that is what you need most.

    tell your family and friends, promote in forums, directories and free ad websites.

    try to ask yourself where would potential members for your forum hangout...

    and locate them there, post some link, eventually some of them will join.

    What are the best ways to promote a forum apart from the normal post a topic, reveiw my forum type of thing.

    I don't really see much discussion on that front.

    Follow this Some Promotional Techniques

    Sending an email to all your friends
    Posting updates on Facebook or Myspace
    Using Twitter.com to reach out to new people
    Posting on Forum, Blogs
    Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
    Submitting articles to article directories
    Posting on Yahoo Answers
    Social Bookmarking on sites like
    By advertising on Google's adwords

    Honestly, most of the really good ways have been covered. Just hop on, comment on a few blogs here and there, get a lot of people talking about you(word of mouth), use social media(probably one of the most underused forms of promotion), and make tons of friends so they want to come and post on your forum!
