I have a xbox forum & i currently am the only admin & there are no moderators.
I have groups for certains member "XLF Reviewers" "XLF Acheivement Writers" & "XLF Forum Welcomers".
These members do not moderate the forum, they just help keep it more active by posting.

I am wanting to hire a moderator to help enforce my forum rules.. But.. I dont know anybody that would do it from my 'personal life' so to speak.. So i will have to hire someone to do it from the net. This will obveously be someone i dont know & they will have access my forum to delete & change stuff. If i was to hire the wrong person, they could wreck my site.

Has anybody got any tips & help for me to help me decide who to choose & what to do to find out if that person is trustworthly enough. Thanks!

I would recommend you take a look at your community and see which leaders emerge. Do you have regular members who are usually very helpful and involved? Ask them privately to join the team. Most would be happy to do so.

    Thats true, dojo.
I always hire moderator the same way on my forum.

Just look for active members on your board who contribute good posts and actually seem interested in the topics. If you think they are trustworthy, you can ask them to join moderation team. As dojo said, most will be willing to join :)

I don't think it would be a good idea to hire moderators from outside your community; like by posting a staff hiring topic in an advertising forum.

choose an active member from your forum, its a good idea cause you know who you are getting.

also if your worried, set it so mods cant completely delete threads, only hide them from members.

Choose someone who is on your forum all the time helping out and so forth.
